1 Songwriting is hard to make as a career you need to have solid hits under your belt. To make it as a living because you’re getting paid when your music gets played in a movie. TV show, videogame, or commercial.

2 Relying on your royalties is a bad idea royalties you need to diversify your income such as your 9-5 jobs or any other skills that you have like singing? or becoming an A&R.

3 Nothing is promised you don’t know how much you will make .The entertainment industry is not stable like a 9-5 job  you know. How much you’re getting every month.

4 Don’t quit your job when your first receive royalty check comes. Many songwriters have mentioned that in 2021 the songwriting industry has changed a lot.

5 The easy access to music downloads such as streaming and of course the ultimate Napster that started all of this easy access for people to have the privilege to listen to music without paying.

6 Getting someone to manage your finances while in the creative business is super important.  Just to make sure that you’re not spending too much.

7 This generation of musicians may not have hits that can be played around generation after generation.  Like the 70s 80s 90s or even the early 2000s because it’s not about talent . But about making a quick buck, labels are more focused on the short term than long term when it comes to talents.

8  The older generation of musicians when the music industry was booming and people were buying they had other projects that they were doing like acting, commercials, sponsorships, judges of talent .Streams of income.
