This whole journey was started by their father when Joe Jackson found Tito playing with his guitar. And he was impressed and he bought him a Guitar. Tito then Jermaine Jackie formed their own group with Michael and he was only 5 years old at the time. Marlon then joined the group in 1965. In 1966 the group won their first talent show. They would perform at other talent shows. To showcase their craft. In 1967 they were booked into avenues like Regal theater. Winning talent show competitions. Gladys Knight was actually the first person to reach them out. She sent a tape to Motown records. In hopes for them to get signed.

But their tape was rejected and then was sent back. In 1967 the group signed to Steeltown records. By March the group was then signed to a distribution deal. After they set up an audition with Motown records. After that they signed their first Motown contract. The Jackson 5 performed “It’s Your Thing” at a pageant. “I Want You Back” was their first song that they released. Their debut album “Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5” was released in 1969. The Jackson 5 were becoming big and successful. So many supporters that they had. And they were still very young. Some were not even teenagers. When they were first thrown into the spotlight.

By 1970 they were attracting 19,000 fans. They were becoming one of the world’s most famous groups. The Jackson 5 became the most marketable label. The Jackson 5 were being featured in different magazines. And they were becoming a household name. The next songs that they released “ABC” and “The Love You Save”. “I’ll Be There” was the next song that was released. The Jackson 5 were releasing 4 albums in one year. They were the best selling group. Michael Jackson’s solo career was launched in 1971. “Got to Be There” was released in October. Jermaine Jackson also released successful projects as well. The Jackson 5 were clearly in demand when it comes to them releasing their own solo music.

Jackson 5 were falling down in the charts. However, careers like Michael and also Jermaine were growing. The Jackson 5 split up in 1973. “Dancing Machine” and “Get It Together” was their first top 10 since “Sugar Daddy”. By 1975 they had sold over 60 million records. When it comes to the Jackson 5 something that we have noticed it took a while for their career to grow. It wasn’t like they just became successful overnight. They had to go through certain situations and then after that they found success. The Jackson 5 then departed from Motown. Joe Jackson then negotiated and he signed them to Epic records. Jermaine Jackson then decided to stay with Motown.

At the time he was married to Hazel Gordy. Randy Jackson replaced him. They still remained under Motown contract until 1976. “Destiny” was released in 1978. By 1979 the Jacksons had sold 90 million records. “Shake Your Body” was written by Michael and Randy Jackson. The album sold over million copies. It had hit songs like “Lovely One”, “This Place Hotel”, “Can You Feel It”. Michael then released his first solo under Epic called “Off the Wall”. After that he released “Thriller” and that was the best selling album of that time. When it comes to Michael Jackson’s success it was honestly through the roof he saw a lot of success.

He won 8 Grammy awards. In March 1983 The Jacksons performed “Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever”. That’s where Michael debuted the moonwalk. During his solo performance “Billie Jean”. All of the 6 brothers then decided to record album called “Victory” and it was released in 1984. It was their biggest selling album. There was even a duet with Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. “Torture” became a successful song it was a duet with Jermaine with Jackie singing several parts of the songs. Michael Jackson then decided to pursue his own solo career. But it was rising and doing really well. And the Jackson 5 also achieved their own successes and they also did really well. At the time of their break up the group sold 100 million records worldwide.

The Jackson 5 then released a song called “Time Out for the Burglar”. Which was included in Whoopi Goldberg’s film “Burglar” 1987. Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Randy released an album called “2300 Jackson Street”. After that the group went on a break and never recorded after that. Marlon Jackson then left the Music business and invested into real estate in 1989. In September of 2001, 17 years after their last performance together. All of the 6 brothers reunited for the Madison Square Garden. In early 2009 the older brothers began filming a reality TV show and it’s called “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty”.

Tito Jackson then died in September of 2024. And that was another shock. Because Tito suddenly died. And it’s sad to see legends just dying. He still had his 3 sons and they had already lost their mother. And to lose their father. Tito Jackson was the reason why The Jackson 5 were even created in the first place and he needs to get more credit for that. Joe Jackson saw him and saw the potential when it comes to his sons for everyone. And it’s really good. Look at what Joe Jackson had been able to create when it comes to the groups.
They achieved a lot of success when it comes to their own careers. However, there has been some controversy when it comes to the way that he dealt with his sons. Michael Jackson talked about the discipline that he would give his sons. If they would miss a step. And Michael Jackson talked about missing out on his childhood. Because he had to go and work. And even though he became very successful and it paid off. This just shows how much. Working from a young age can hurt. And the disadvantages. Because then you can’t be a normal person and the Jackson 5 were working from a young age. And becoming entertainers and they were very famous.
