It all started with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards becoming classmates and childhood friends in the 1950’s. In the 1950’s, he formed his own band called Garage Band with his friend Dick Taylor. They played a lot of Black American artists called Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Howlin’ Wolf, and Bo Diddley. Which is not shocking because they invented the genre. They were looking for more bandmates to join them on Mya 2 1962. Ian Steward was the one that responded to the ad. Tony Chapam then joined as a drummer. The lineup then became Jagger, Richards, Jones, Stewart, and Taylor.

The band played their show in 1962, in July. Bill Wyman did an audition as a bass guitarist. They began going on the Chicago Blues Tour. By 1963, they were starting to get some popularity. They even beat the Beatles as the number 1 band in 2 surveys. They were going against an already established group. Now that is impressive. In 1962, they were signed to a new manager. At the time, he was only 19 years old. And he wasn’t that mature. When it comes to the rolling stones image,. He wanted them to stand out among their fellow competitors, The Beatles. He even reduced their ages to make them appeal to younger people.

Their first song was a cover of a Chuck Berry song called Come on. Their second song was another cover called Lennon McCartney, I Wanna Be Your Man. They started doing covers, which is not a bad thing, especially when you’re first starting out in the music industry. And trying to make a name for yourself. Their third song, Not Fade Away by Buddy Holly. In 1964, they went on tour in America. But things didn’t go well. Because they didn’t hit the American market yet. During the tour, they recorded for 2 days. They were even mocked. Their EP Five by Five was released in 1964. Their second EP was released in 1965.

Their international hit song is called “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. It was a worldwide success, and it did really well. Their second international song is called Get Off of the Cloud. Their fourth album was released in 1966. They were becoming successful in the American and UK charts. They released other 2 songs called Mother’s Little Helper, “Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?” Between the buttons was released in 1967, and they did really well. Ruby Tuesday went number 1 in America. Their sixth album, Beggars Banquet, was released in 1968. It had lead singles like Street Fighting Man. At the age of 27, Brian Jones drowned. He was also dealing with drug issues.

They then found a replacement, and he is called Mick Taylor. They also did  atribute for him. The Stone Slast album is called Let It Bleed. They released another album called Exile on Main Street, and that was their 10th album. Bill Wyman was the first member of the group to release his own material called Monkey Grip. For over 20 yearsthey made about 242 million Their 11th album, called Goats Head Soup, was released in 1973.

Their album It’s Only Rick and Roll was released in 1974. Jagger and Richard produced the album. The band has members living in different countries, which makes things complicated. Rinnie Wood auditioned and became successful as the guitarist because they were looking for a new member. In the 1970s’ they still remained popular. However, punk rock was becoming the next thing, and other bands were signing up. So when it comes to expectations when it comes to sales,. It was difficult to explain that. They released a hit song called Soem girls

And had a hit song called Miss You. Rollin Stones also signed a four-record album deal for $50 million. At that time, it was the biggest in the music industry. Jgger signed a solo deal. Dirty Work was released in 1986. Mick Jagger did a collab with David Bowie on a song called Dancing in the Street. In the year 1989, the group members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Ronnie Wood, Brian Jones, Mick Taylor, and Ian Stewart. Were part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They also released a new album called Steel Wheels. They also went on their first tour in seven years in the year 1989.

The band took a break, and they were working on their own solo projects. Wyman then left the band. Darryl Jones replaced Wyman. They went on a tour called Voodoo Lounge Tour. And it grossed 320 million. The highest growwing tour of all time. Bridges to Babylon was released in 1997. Mick Jagger released his fourth album called Goddess in the Doorway. In the year 2003, they performed their first concert in Hong Kong. Their first album in 8 years was released, and it’s called a bigger bang. They also performed at the superbowl in the year 2006.

Rolling stone influence is huge. And in the article, they didn’t warm up to the US audience very quickly; it took them some time. During does dyas, you wouldn’t know what music is done well in which country. So then you would have to make sure that going to countries marketing your music and promoting yourself out there, maybe even going to interviews and even radio stattions. Just to make sure that you are promoting yourself so that people know who you are. Because going there and expecting them to know you, especially during those days, can really humble you really well.

The fact that they started in the 1960s. Gen Z and now wouldn’t be able to understand. Look at how many albums they have released. Gen Z is definitely going to do that. And do we even have bands in 2025/2026? Not really. Things are just really different.And many people do not understand how things are just really different and it makes it had for some people to udnerstand because they feel like it’s a different generation.However , it’s also the invetsment time and enevrgy when it comes to developing a successful band.It is not easy and not everyone can do it
