He is from a Christian family from Edo state.He discovered his passion for Music during his secondary school days.Were he began singing and Rapping.Rema started off performing in Churches with his Group partner called Alpha p in 2019.When it comes to becoming successful.You have to start from somewhere in order to become successful.He got some recognition when he did a freestyle of D’prince Gucci gang.D prince flew him to lagos and offered him a record deal.Instagram has been used by discovering people like Ella mai.She was posting covers and she was discovered on there.Rema was able to get a record deal with this situation.Which is very impressive.

2019 he released an Ep.Which topped the Nigerian music charts.Nigeria has such a big Music market.The population and also the support that Nigerians give to their Artist.So the potential is there.A lot of people are looking out for Nigerian Musicians.Because of how successful they have been able to become.Dumebi was the break out song for him .There are certain songs that got him recognised by Barack obama.Barack obama recognising you is huge.And that can be such an amazing achievement.Fifa 21 Rema song was even included.He also became a brand ambassador for Pepsi.The record deal is working for him.

Rema then released 3 other Ep’s.And then he released his first album called Rave and Roses.March of 2022.Calm down gave him global recognition.And Selena gomez was featured in the Remix.The song became even bigger then what it was . Afrobeats has become a global genre.To the point that it has beeen rcognised by other people that 20 years a go they would never have never listened to the Genre.It has become more appealing for them which is great because Nigerian artist used to get disrespected a lot whenever the American artist would come to nigeria because the industry wasn’t as vibrant.

The album became the first African to cross over billion of streams on Spotify.He released his second album in the year 2024.He has also been nominated for a Grammy.Rema is achieving the dream of A lot of Nigerian aspiring artist.Breaking history collabs with Big artist.That is really good.And he has achieved that already at the age of 24.There are so many things that he has to do.The future is bright for Rema.There are so many things that he is going to do.He branded himself very well.And we at Valenzio are excited to see his growth because this is just the beginning for him.

Many countries in order to create Musicians .They have to invest in the Music industry.What nigeria is doing has paid of very well in the long run.Not that many countries can do what Nigeria has done.For example there are several african countries artist that are jealous of the success that Nigeria has been able to achieve .and they even want to ban nigerian music in their own countries.There will be a course when it comes to how the Music industry in nigeria has been able to do very well.Countries have to invest in order to see results.

One thing that some people are scared of is Afrobeats music becoming to Westernised.There are some people who feel like things that are kept in a treasure for specific type of people tends to be better and original because they feel like.When it get to the West .It almost like they have to compromised on certain things.And then it becomes destroyed that why many people do not like it.They have to appeal to an audience so they change their music style and even the way that they talk.They become a brand new person.And that can be frustrating for True fans.

That the thing.If you want to go global in certain things.You may have to compromise for certain things.Even if you don’t want to .The truth is that if Afrobeats Artist didn’t compromise they would have been able to become successful.That why it’s very important if your someone who comes from a minority background.You have to make sure that you get as much power as possible.People didn’t like the Power that michael jackson had. He literaly owned half of sony catalog.For most of these big players.It wasn’t something that they wanted.Power is good for minorities to have because then they don’t have to compromise.

Money could be the reason why .A lot of these artist are seeing money that they have never seen before.Which makes them give in even more.Because they have seen the benefit when it comes to compromising.It’s addictive at this point.How do you make people to be more aware.They aren’t activist they are just trying to make a living for themselves so that they can look after their money.And that the reality for them.If they come from working class family.They have to do certain things that they don’t want to do.However , we should be seeing more Afrobeats making music that still has that Afrobeat vibe.

There are some artist that suddenly say that they are not Afrobeats artist Rema has said Burna boy and also Wizkid.Some people feel like they are doing it either because they don’t want to be put in a box because it makes the creation of Music less fun for them.Or they  want to expand their fanbase.Adele doesn’t really change the vibe of Music that she makes sometimes the sound she changes it.However , Adeele has a very distinctive sound compared to the rest.There are some people who don’t really have it like that.And you could always tell.

Having a distinctive sound that specific for you is good.Because it can be like your anthem that what most people will recognise you by.They will recognise by the sound that you have created and loved and many people will talk about it a lot.I think it’s better for artist to make songs that fit their sound and isn’t just spread out there.Because people may not like that type of sound that you release.They may feel like it’s not good enough.And that other artist do better when it comes to this Genre. There has been some Artist that have switched up.
