Gordy then trademarked the name Jackson 5 and didn’t allow the group to use it. So then they changed the name to Jacksons.
In 1983 they also performed at the 25th anniversary for Motown. Motown is where they started gaining their momentum and did really well. And when it comes to their success in music. Many people wanted to watch them again. In 1997 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his brothers too. And when you look at the Jacksons and the impact that they have made when it comes to society it makes sense that is what they do. In 2001 he reunited for Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary. The Jackson 5 being reunited is good for the fans who missed seeing them all together.
Marlon Jackson had his own solo career in 1987 and he released an album called “Baby Tonight”. Marlon then hasn’t released any albums. And when it comes to albums. There are some people that like to take their time when it comes to their Music. A lot can happen. For example, a lot of the Jacksons got married. And Michael didn’t; he was actually the only one that took his time when it comes to finding someone and having kids and settling down. Marlon then found success when it comes to real estate in California. After that he basically retired from the Music industry.
Marlon’s brother Michael then died in 2009. And that was such a big shock when it comes to the music industry. People didn’t believe when it comes to his death.
And till this day people still feel like he should be alive. Because the music industry isn’t the same without him. And that is actually very true. And then also his brother Tito then passed away in 2024. Both deaths were just shocking. Tito dying is so sad. Because now that is another brother gone. And when that happens what do you do. 2 members of the Jackson 5 have passed. However, their legacy would never be forgotten and the reason why they have such longevity is because of the brand that they have been able to create. Longevity is very important when it comes to any industry. You will have a brand. And you won’t need to work as much. All you need to do is show up. Someone like Michael Jackson has had longevity. And even if he was still alive and he retired. He would be fine. Because his music will speak for itself. And it would be doing really well when it comes to it. There is a lot of good things that can happen.
Marlon has currently been married to his wife since 1975 and he currently has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Marlon right now in our opinion he is having a lot of people’s dream life. He has been able to create a successful career when it comes to being part of the Jacksons and also having children and having a legacy with all of his siblings together. When it comes to legacy in the Music business. His generation have done a good job when it comes to it. Is that going to be the same for everyone else? Probably not. Not everyone will have a legacy.
Marlon has also lived a quiet life away from the spotlight too much when you look at it in comparison to his brother Michael. Yes the Jackson 5 had a lot of attention. However, now in our opinion it’s really good. And he has the benefits when it comes to making good music with his brothers and touring all over the world.
