J balvin was 16 years old and he participated in a exchange program.After the program he moved to new york.New york city is know for it’s vibrant.Multi ethnic immigrant city.And also Hip hop is birth from there.So it’s kind of a special place.He moved to New york to further study english.And as someone who is a spanish speaker.That could have helped him to probably communicate more.He then decided to move to Columbia.And was performing at different clubs.And he was starting to get a following.He even went to university when he was just 19 years old.And began a career in Music
He met his Dj and business partner David rivera in a freestyle battle.So you could probably tell by now that.J balvin was clearly hungry for it.He really wanted to make a success for himself.And him moving to Columbia back for some people they may even say that it’s a bad idea.Because the American market for the Music industry is huge.So they felt like going back would not make sense.However , Columbia has a thriving Music industry.And anybody that can can attract an audience over there.Can become successful.In 2004 he released his first song called Panas.He signed to Columbia records in 2009.After that he released a song called Ella me Cautivo.
2012 J balvin released a mixtape.His first international hit is called Yo Te Lo Dije.And after that he signed a new deal.February of 2014 he released a new song called 6 Am.With a pueto rican singer called Farruko.His album also did very well.the cross over in America .The reason why it became successful.Is because there is a huge spanish speaking population in America.That could also help out the Artist to gain a following.Years a go it would have been difficult .However , people are starting to be open minded when it comes to the different genres across the pond.
j Balvin released a song called Ay vamos.It won a Latin grammy award.The music videos is one of the most watched latin Music videos of all time.J balvin is breaking records.Winning a latin grammy award.It became the first 1 billion views by a Reggaeton Artist.The song went number 1 on the Billboard.And the remix was featured with Frech montana Nicky jam.It was used in the soundtrack for Fast and furious 7.Getting into big movies like this.Is something that every Artist should aspire too.Because of the fact that it can become an anthem.And if it becomes.Thats money for the rest of your whole life.Gneration after generation.
J balvin became like the Nicki minaj for collabs .What we mean is that everyone wanted a J balvin collab.He started featuring with Artist like Justin bieber in a remix called Sorry.And also Ariana grande the problem , the way.Blured lines by Robin thicke Maroon 5 prince royce.At the billboards award he was nominated 13 times.That is a huge accomplishment for a colombian artist to be rcognised like that.Dominican and puerto rican Artist have killing it.So it’s nice to see other spanish speaking countries do well us well.J balvin has a new song out called Ginza.The music video broke the record when it comes to the most views for a latin american video in 24 hours.
The song also set a Guiness record.June 24 2016 he released his third music video called Energia.It had the third best debut sales of any Latin Artist in 2016.Rolling stone rankedthe album number 4 on the Magazine list of the top 10 best latin albumbs of 2016. J balvin also went on tour.Was J balvin lucky when it comes to his success.In our opinion he was doing this at the right time.And there could be 100 that could have been doing it at the right time.However , the music that you make playes a part.In fact at the beginning he was making Music that sounded like everybody else and then he swtitched his style
J balvin released a song ft Willy william.Mi gente became successful when it comes to chart . people really liked it a lot.The song was also remixed by Beyonce.Music nowadays is so different people use to get excited by remixed and ‘s make it a huge deal for them it’s just like oh here is a remix.Bad bunny and Cardi b were featured on a song with J balvin on a song called I like it.The song did very well Cardi b was on the rise so it makes sense for her to be featured.
J balvin released a collab album with Bad bunny.Collab album can be good or bad.Sometimes it can be fine.If they are both planning on releasing something that their supporters have been waiting for a long time.And sometimes it makes no sense.Because of the fact that maybe the sound just doesn’t match the collab.However , these 2 Artist that people have been decided for a long time.And the supporters want to hear them collab.Music being out so much has dilluted certain project from certain Artist it has made people feel like.There are better Artist out there.
J balvin still lives in his Hometown of Medelin and he has been able to have International hits.And become successful.People think you have to live in the centre of the world countries.And live in places like California , Nyc.People like Jorja smith have moved to their hometown in the Uk.People don’t realise that when it comes to fame and Money when they get to a certain level.They may not want to keep up with it.Because they have to deal with a lot already.And when your in the public eye you have to deal with scrutiny
There was some time a go that this Awards show was calling J balvin.An Afro Latino Artist which made no sense cause he isn’t . However , it broaden the discussion when it comes to erasure of Afro Latinos.There have been afro columbian Artist like ChocQuibTown that have been doing well.And they deserve the respect. We believe that it will take some time for them to get their respect. As more become successul it will change.Poeple have to get use to seeing it.Another problem is that there isn’t a lot of representation of them in the Media.When people think of a colombian they don’t think of Afo columbian.And more representation the better
