Ashanti mother discovered her talent at the age of 12 . While attenting high school .She began to write songs. Her mother saw the potential already.And that amazing for Ashanti because they are parents out there .That pretend that they don’t see how talented their children actually are.Because they don’t want their children to be in the entertainment industry.And that the reality for most of these Singers.They have to do things in order to please their parents.She was performing at festivals and also at events to try and get attention.However was struggling . After being courted by several labels because during that time there was a lot of good singers out there.
Ashanti was noticed by Irv gotti.He asked her to to write hooks for other rappers.And that worked perfectly for Ashanti because she was always seeing as the type of perfect person to sing in hooks and she was featured in several rappers songs.And it did very well . She was featured with Cadillac , Fat joe , Ja rule . Ashanti became the first woman to occupy 2 billboards.Ashanti beaing featured in hooks worked very well for her.You don’t always see this nowadays when it comes to rappers featuring singers in hooks.So many things have changed.
2001/2003 Ashanti first album was released in 2002 it was debuted at number 1 . The album was triple platinum and sold 6 million copies .Ashanti wrote 12 of the tracks.And it’s good that Ashanti was involved in the writing process.The album did very well for her she got alot of awards like billboards and American music award.And she even won a grammy. In 2003 she released her second album 326,000 copies sold in the first week.The album wen’t platinum.It was also nominated for an Mtv music award.In November of 2003 she released her Christmas album it sold 100,000 units.It’s a christmas album so yuo can’t expect a breaking record.
2004/2007. She was featured on a song with Ja rule called Wonderful.The song peaked at number 5 in america.December 2004 she released her third album.This was her third paltinum album . Ashanti achieved this in her 20s already.It was quite clear all that time she was facing rejection in her teens was all for the best.Because she has longevity in her career.2005 she focused on her acting career.Coach carter was featured in hit.And it was a box office success.She was also on John tucker must die.And it was also a box office success.2008/2010.The 4 studio album sold 86 000 units in it’s first week.It was lower then the other albums.
However , the music industry at that time it was very quick.It could have been that people were focused on ther Musicians like Beyonce.Because people constatnly compared to her which makes no sense.because they are 2 different Artist.However people like to compare.To start problems with the 2 .Irv gotti released Ashanti from it’s labels. 2011/2014 after 4 year hiatus she released a song for the film soundtrack Dream house.Singers/Musician should think about featuring songs in Movies.Especially if it’s a big movie.Because the return you will get from that.Especially if the song is received well can be life changing.
Ashanti 5 studio album was released in 2011.it won a soul train award.Braveheart was released in 2014.it opened at number 10 in the billboard.It was quite clear that there was still a demand for Ashanti.And people still wanted to listen to her music.In 2017 and 2018 she returned to music with several collaboration Ty dolla sign.Afro b in 2019. 2022 she was fetaured in several songs.It is quite clear that Ashanti made a amrk in the Music industry.And she is still well liked when it comes to her Music.However the time that she is now is very different .There wasn’t any streaming platforms or even Platforms like Instagram Youtube.
Ashanti was also in a relation with Nelly from 2003/2014.And as of now in 2024 they are back together.And reportedly expecting their first child together.Ashanti always talked about wanting kids.She clearly took her time when it comes to having children.She didn’t rush the process.And focused on her career.Her career was taken off.So she couldn’t just focused on starting family .They are women who find it difficult to balance having children and having a career.So they wait.And it’s competely you’re choice with what you want to do.Some people don’t wait and have it earlier on in their career.

During Ashanti career there was a petition being made about Ashanti receiving Soul train Aretha Franklin award .They felt she was too new and not established enough to get this award.And other musicians deserved it more.This shows the quality of Music being made at that time in 2002/2003/.There was a lot of talented musicians.Releasing good music.This time if an aritst were to get an award like this they wouldn’t look into her talent or anything.They would let her get this award just because she makes catchy music.Ashanti talented and knows how to make good music.But because of the era that she was in it was hard for her to stand out.
Ashanti in 2024 is still performing.She is seen performing with her boyfriend Nelly.Her mother played a big part in her success.Which is great.Because parents support.Can make a huge difference.A lot of singers don’t have support from their parents.And that can be very difficult journey when it comes to building their career.Asahanti had support and wasl also lucky to be in the era that she was in the Music industry.She made a huge impact in the music industry when it comes to her melodic hooks.People knew that Ashanti part would always be nice to listen to.
