Axel and Chad met at NYU university. It was basically a music program that they were studying. Both were music business students. Studying Music in school is actually such a good idea. There are so many things that you could learn. And they went to a good university in New York. Axel convinced Chad to write a song together. Chad agreed to work with Axel after hearing him sing. They both were writing and performing together. Even before Axel went solo. These were young people and they met at a University. And in 2011 their song This New Year was licensed to various networks that was used as a theme song for MTV I Used to Be Fat.
Axel and Chad went on a national tour and performed for Ingrid Michaelson, Matthew Morrison (Glee), and Five for Fighting. The fact that their song became licensed. That is huge. And many people would want their music to be featured in various networks. This way you can really build a brand. The duo rebranded itself 2010. They took an official name A Great Big World. They released EPs. They crowdfunded their project on a website called Kickstarter. This Is the New Year was performed by the cast of Glee in an episode.
In 2013 the group then signed with Epic Records. And they released a 3 song EP under Epic in 2013. They completed a headline tour. Elvis Duran picked them as Artist of the Month. And they were featured on NBC Today. Where they performed This Is the New Year. The song Say Something was featured on the final competition So You Think You Can Dance released in September 2013. The song was then re-recorded with Christina Aguilera. And the song then became very huge. When you listen to the song. And the way that it’s written, It’s almost like a love poem song. They were performing the song everywhere. Everywhere The Voice and also award shows.
The song opened up many doors for them. And this how we were actually introduced by them. The song became number 1 on iTunes. The song honestly it’s almost like a duet. When you watch the Music videos. It’s almost like they want to respond to each other, They have that unique angle when it came to the song. And that’s why the song became successful. They had this unique way when it comes to response. And it worked out for them. And the listener probably liked it. Their debut album was released in January of 2014. They have this momentum they have to make sure that they are keeping it up. And releasing an album is perfect.
The group made an appearance on the song Over You. Ingrid album. When you look at their career journey so far, They had a song licensed and of course the song Say Something gave them attention. When it comes to your life changing. There are so many things that could change when it comes to your life for the good. And it could work out really well when it comes to it. When it comes to working in a duo it can be hard sometimes. Because everyone has their own unique ideas. And sometimes that can cause clashes and things can be different.
At this time they were working on their second album. Hold Each Other was released in July of 2015. The album was then released in 2015 called When the Morning Comes. They have been writing a musical for years. They have released 3 albums so far. And the third one was released in 2019. When it comes to A Great Big World when you look at their level of fame that they have in our opinion. They have the perfect ones. People are not in their personal life as much as other Musicians have their business exposed. And the blogs want to know more about them beyond the music. Their fame and success is at the perfect level.
They have done things that many people would love to do but they can’t. And their career will continue to rise and become successful. They also won a Grammy award in 2015 for Best Duo. And that is huge accomplishment and it’s very good. They have been able to do a lot when it comes to their career. And winning a Grammy. When it comes to the type of opportunities that you get. It’s actually a lot more than you actually think. You’re more supported. And people want to help you out more. It’s honestly much better. And that’s why many people they want to win award shows and become successful in that area.
The song with Christina has almost a billion views. When you look at the song and its impact all these years. That’s why it’s important to make sure that when you’re making music. It’s a classic one. And people truly love it. Because when you’re chasing viral music. Your music doesn’t last. And that is just the truth. People are not honest about the fact that many people have been trying to chase for viral music. And that’s why their career go nowhere. And that is why it’s important to make sure that you don’t chase that. Because then your music will always be remembered.
When it comes to the duo. This is a group that clearly cares about the quality of the Music. And that is something that is different from them. Chasing high quality music is good. And they play instruments. And when you know how to play instruments it’s good because then you’re able to do your own thing when it comes to creating really good sounds. Many of the good sounds are created when you have a good ear for music. Music is good to make when you can come up with good creative ideas. There are lots of wonderful things that they could be doing.
A Great Big World will continue giving us good music. And that is something that we can’t wait to hear when it comes to it. We believe that they will show us when it comes to creating sounds that will keep generation after generation listening. People that are Gen Z or millennials will probably let their Gen Alpha listen to the Music as well. There is a lot that can be done when it comes to Music. It can help propel generations after generations if it’s good. Can it be done when it comes to this new generation maybe not. Because the Music isn’t as high quality and that is very interesting.
