What makes you beautiful was released in September of 2011.It went number 1 .They already had a fanbase. And they started their career at the right time. This is when people were transitioning from Blackberry to now iPhone. A different era was coming. And they had already evolved. Their next song was Gotta be you and One thing .They new what their fanbase wanted to listen to. And they also had the right machine behind them. Everything was working well for them because it was strategic.

*Columbia records

The UK Market grew because of X factor .However , abroad fanbase went through the roof. They signed to Columbia records. They were so popular. didn’t have a lot of bands to compare to. Because people were focusing on them . People attention span. Wasn’t as bad as it is today. We have so many apps. Apps like Tik Tok are giving opportunity to anyone to make it in the Music industry. However , it dilutes the music. The quality of music that One direction was producing. Is why they lasted for a long time. One direction 2010 era was such a beautiful time for their growth.

*Up all night

Their studio album was released in November of 2011.It was 2 months after they release. It’s a good way for people to know what Music you coming up with. And it’s a good test for people to give feedback. They were teenage boys that came from x factor. And sometimes the Music that you like. Your supporters may not like it. Their tour began in December of 2011.Their tickets sold out in 12 minutes. The economy of the Music industry back then it was so good. They  were also heavily promoting their album. One direction did a 7 hour interactive YouTube live-stream sponsored by Google. They also had celebrity guest. Midnight memories was released in 2013.It was the best selling album. And it sold 4 million copies globally. They had success back to back. And it kept on growing. From an X factor audition to now being able to tour all around the world. The group was named among the top. Groups are loved and wanted. One direction music is pop music. The early 2000’s was more Rock music when it comes to boy bands. And one direction did Pop music. Backstreet boys did pop with a mix or R&B.

*Where we are tour

The tour grossed 290 million. The highest grossing tour of 2014.The tour was attended by 3.4 million people. One direction has a loyal fanbase. And that what people are missing nowadays. Their fanbase was organic. It came from a singing competition. X factor laid the foundation. If they didn’t go on the show. Would One direction been existed. Probably not. And that why many people like to go on singing competition shows. It can open up avenues. That you didn’t think was possible. They are performing on TV. The right person can change your life.

Their fourth album Four. Released 17 November 2014.Steal my girl was the single. Another song night changes. They went on a tour On the road again tour. The 2010’s were interesting when it comes to Singers. They were releasing Music .And going on tour back to back. This was before Tik Tok took over. There wasn’t that much influence from Tik Tok. They had a fanbase that people wanted to listen to. Group even the most popular ones .Sometimes. Their sales can  slow down. And people are not trying to listen to their Music.

*Zayn Malik departure

After the On the Road again tour .Zayn malik left the group. He explained recently. Because he wanted to be the first person to leave. And this makes sense. Because One direction. Had a lot of attention. And he went solo. A good marketing tactic. Zayn malik found success when it comes to his solo career. He also was unhappy when it comes to the Music direction. In a group there is different opinions. The only way to have creative freedom. Is only if you don’t have to share. Destiny’s child , New edition. These are all groups that did their own thing.

*Made in the Am/Liam Payne death

One direction went on the X factor. Social media wasn’t even that popular. And to build a fanbase. It was going to these shows. Were millions of people would watch you on Television. In our opinion. This is more challenging then posting a video of yourself singing. Your singing Infront of people. And you need to be confident. Your performance can go wrong .And there is no edit in that sense. Singing competition still exist. America got talent people are still going on there to showcase their talent. It’s a good way to market yourself to the public. People will see your capability when it comes to performing.

*Quality

One direction kept on making quality music back to back. They made music that resonated with their audience. And look at the title of their Song. And your current target market. See how you can improvise. There is a lot to know. One direction had the right people behind them. And having people that know what they are doing .Makes things easier. Some people when they are younger. They beat themselves to it. When it comes to not knowing certain things. However , One direction had experts behind them.

*Sacrifices

One direction members did their audition as Teenagers. And they had to sacrifice a lot. Their career was thriving. And they couldn’t have fun like other people. They were constantly working. Starting a career like this. You will have to sacrifice your childhood. And even being normal. They had normal lives. And then x factor came.  They had to focus on growing their band. And they made it happen. However , it comes with so many changes. People invading your privacy. Not everyone can handle it. And some members just disappear from the spotlight completely. Queen is a good example many of the members have private lives.

*Don’t get too comfortable

One direction career had  so many unexpected moments . The split and even the death. Aspiring singer shouldn’t think things will go smooth for a while. And even if it gets smooth. Life can happened. One direction has changed .If they had a reunion it wouldn’t be all 5 of them it would be the 4 of them. And it wouldn’t be the same without Liam .He is part of the One direction story.
